stills from a beauty video I directed for Shiseido ROUGE ROUGE
pics from a fashion story I shot in Italy!
We shot this at a place near Rome. It was built 500 years ago by a lonely duke who’s wife had died. She loved myths and fairytales so he built all these stone monuments in her honor. After he died, the place became overgrown and everyone forgot it existed, until the 1950′s when someone stumbled on it while clearing trees. It’s a magical place out in the woods…spooky but beautiful
Here is my new 2015 director’s reel…short and sweet
Last week we shot three (yeah, I know!) music videos for an amazing new artist…..she and her team were great and lovely to work with…here are some assorted BTS pics…
We transformed an empty storefront into a “Psychic Reader”’s parlor in Brooklyn for video #1…complete with crystal balls, black candles, statues and neon signs…we had to shoo away confused walk-ins several times, as well as nosy neighbors and perverts trying to peek inside.
Then we constructed a “Suburban Wasteland” on a soundstage in Manhattan for video #2..complete with abandoned graffiti-covered car, polluted pond, and smoking teenage rebels. We bought the car trashed, and missing a door, but with a clean white paintjob..we let our assistants play out their own teenage fantasies by spraypainting grafitti all over the car before the junkyard came to pick it up. I tried to “represent” as it were, by spraypainting a gleaming unicorn onto the roof, cementing the idea that I would make a terrible gang member, and am forever and always very uncool.
The last video was a much simpler affair….relying on the camera plunging and soaring through lingering darkness and fog, to meet the singer’s strong performance and beautiful face.
We are editing the first video now…can’t wait to launch it early next year
